What is a Durometer Tester?
A durometer tester measures the indentation hardness of soft materials like rubber, plastics, and elastomers. The most common durometer testers include the Shore A scale for rubber, Shore D scale for plastic, and Shore OO scale for soft rubber and foam.
How Durometer Testers Work
A spring-loaded indenter is pressed against the test surface.
The durometer tester measures how deep the indentor penetrates the test surface.
The result is translated into a value from 0 to 100 on the durometer tester.
