Data Automatically Collected
This website uses Google Analytics to collect data about how users interact with the site. This data is transmitted to Google and is used to compile statistics such as which pages are visited the most and how long visitors stay on the site. The IP address of each user is collected as well in order to compile statistics about where users are geographically located, but the IP addresses that the site collects are “anonymized.” This means that only the first three segments of the user’s four-segment IP address are collected, which prevents the user’s computer from being associated with the data. No personally identifiable information is collected, nor is the data that is collected used to track users.
Use of Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on the user’s computer that store certain information about the user’s interaction with the site. This website uses cookies to improve the experience of its users. For example, if a user adds products to the shopping cart, the products and the quantity are stored in a cookie so that if the user leaves the site, the shopping cart will still show those products in the cart when the user returns to the site.
The cookies used on this site can be classified into two categories: those that are strictly necessary for the site to function, and those that are used for gathering statistical data. Cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function may sometimes include personally identifiable information such as a username (for logging into a user account). Cookies used for gathering statistical data do not collect personally identifiable information, and no cookies (strictly necessary or otherwise) are used to track users. Users have the ability to accept or decline the site’s use of cookies that are not strictly necessary. Users who have previously accepted the site’s use of cookies can revoke their acceptance by clearing their browser’s cookies.
Collection of Personal Information
Personally identifiable information is collected when users request certain services on this site. Examples of personally identifiable information that is collected – and when it is collected – include (but are not limited to):
- Name and email address when using the site’s live chat feature.
- Name and email address when subscribing to our newsletter mailing list.
- Name, company, phone number, email address, and mailing address when submitting a service request via the site’s Service / Calibration Form.
- Name, company, phone number, email address, mailing address, and credit card information when placing an order.
Personally identifiable information is only collected when necessary. For example, the information collected when placing an order is collected for the sole purpose of fulfilling the order (including collection of payment and shipment of products), or for the purpose of contacting the user if necessary.
In some instances, the personally identifiable information collected is sent to a third party. For example, when users subscribe to our newsletter, the name and email address collected are transmitted to our email marketing platform, MailChimp, which we use for sending our email newsletters. Similarly, when users place an order, their credit card information is transmitted to PayPal for the collection of payment, and their mailing address is sent to FedEx or UPS in order to ship the order. We will not sell users’ personally identifiable information for any purpose, nor will we distribute it to any parties other than those that are strictly necessary in order to provide the services requested by the users.

This site uses an industry-standard SSL certificate and transmits all data in an encrypted format. Additionally, the site uses security measures to protect user data from unauthorized access.
Right to be Forgotten
Users can request to have any and all data about them removed from the site by sending a request to info@durometer.com.
